It's been a while since I last posted, but only because I've been so BUSY, which is a good, good thing. But a friend alerted me to this yesterday. Hurray! While I was at Photo Plus in New York I totally splurged on a little Diana Mini camera. I've been eyeballing the Diana for years, but who can resist a mini version of anything, really? Here's a few from my first roll. The camera takes verticals and squares, but thanks to the geniuses at my local photo mat, the pictures were put on CD as though they were 4x6 frames. The result was actually pretty cool, though! Check it out.

Rob + Anita

I had the pleasure of making some pictures of my very pregnant and adorable friend Anita. She and Rob, who I've known since high school, are expecting their first little one in a few weeks. I say "little one" because they don't know whether it's a boy or a girl-- and I think that's the coolest thing EVER! They're gonna be great parents and raise a fantastic kid.

Pentagon Memorial: 9/11/09

I hadn't been to the Pentagon Memorial since our move to D.C., so I figured today was as good a day as any to go take a look.

New studio and new website!

So, I just went in on a studio space with four other photographers here on Capitol Hill. It's on the second floor of an old, gorgeous carriage house complex that also houses a furniture maker, a florist and a guitar maker.

Walking past it in the alley you'd never know it was there, but it's absolutely heaven inside. Skylights, exposed brick, wood floors and sleek furniture. I'm so excited to go in and play with light! It also has the added benefit of not constantly working out of my basement apartment, which is exciting!

This post also marks the launch of my new portrait website, Sparkle Box Images, which will give me a separate online platform to showcase my portrait work.

Here's a few of one of the other four photographers that uses the space, Aude, who also happens to be due any day now with her second child. A big thanks to her and her daughter Cecille, who is just too cute for words.

Senator Kennedy procession

After watching the funeral online this afternoon, I rode my bike down to the Capitol at the last minute to see what I could see of the Sen. Kennedy funeral procession. Rather than go into the media area, I hung out in the periphery of the large crowd and moved around. It was hot-- very, very hot-- and the procession was two hours late. But the late arrival allowed the clouds and sprinkles to pass and eventually made for some beautiful light as the procession left the Capitol grounds.
